Mistake #3

Mistake #3 – Not knowing your competitors

Your customers have more choices today than they ever did before. With the internet, customers can shop anywhere, at anytime.

So what does this mean to you?

You need to understand who you’re competing against and make a decision as to how you want to compete.

You’ve probably heard of something called a USP, or Unique Selling Proposition. This is where you find something different and unique about you compared to your competitors that will appeal to your customers. Today this is almost next to impossible. In almost all cases you will have very similar attributes to your competitors and finding that one unique thing will be extremely difficult.

What can you do?

While you might appear to be the same, you can still decide what it is you want to be known for and focus on that and own it. We call this your SSP, Sustainable Selling Proposition™.

This is where you can focus on what makes you great, and focus your energy, time and money on owning it. While your competitors may also provide this, you will become known for it and in the mind of your customer; you’ll be the only one.
