Moments of Truth

How many customers did you lose today?

You may be surprised.

Every time a customer or potential customer comes in contact with some aspect of your business, they form an opinion or a perception of what your business is. These are called Moments of Truth.

Every time a customer makes a purchase, there may be up to 30 Moments of Truth in that single transaction.

Each time a customer has interaction with your busines, it’s an opportunity to both build loyalty and win the customer back for another sale, or to lose the customer, possibly forever.

Perception is reality. If your customer sees the outside of your office and it looks dirty or unsafe, that forms their opinion. If your web site is out of date or you don’t have one, that also forms an opinion.

You’ve spent a lot of time, money and energy creating this business of yours. You’ve dreamt of how it would look, you’ve sweated over your location and store layout and you are very protective of everything about it.

Guess what; you may still be giving customers the wrong idea about what your business is all about.

Customers interact with your business all the time without interacting directly with you. Do you have a web site? Do you advertise? Do you have staff? Do customers use the products and services they purchased from you?

Don’t leave it up to chance. Walk through your business with a customer’s eyes. See things from their point of view. Look at every touch point from your web site and advertising to your store layout, merchandise and staff.

Are you delivering a consistent message to customers, no matter who the customer is talking to?

Are you delivering consistent service every time the customer shops with you?

Are you giving customers a reason to come back or look elsewhere?
